top ten things i am looking forward to on this cruise, in no particular order...

just for amy :)

1) eating my weight in salmon.
2) "sophie, why are you up at 4am? oh well, time to go play with grandpa!"
3) watching dad sleep on the patio because we voted him out of the room due to snoring.
4) watching dad AND steve sleep out on the patio because we voted them out of the room due to snoring.
5) seeing russia from sarah palin's house(s).
6) egging sarah palin's house(s).
7) watching dad run away from a bear.
8) hearing about how amy/david/dad almost left david/dad/amy on the side of the train tracks in nebraska.
9) vacation in alaska means amy won't have heatstroke.
10) waving goodbye to david on the dock in ketchikan.

and a bonus item:
11) spending 15ish hours on a plane with sophie, what fun!

organization is always a good thing

I'm taking an informal poll (and procrastinating from depressing paper grading)...

How many people think it is a good idea to have a folder with all the print-outs of confirmation numbers, itineraries, contact info for various hotels, tours, reservations, excursions, etc?

It seems to me that having one organized spot (a lovely plastic portfolio with several different pockets and a snazzy cover - but one that takes up little space) is a good plan. I'm even willing to be in charge of it.

One More Month!

Alrighty crazy family of mine...

We (the CT crowd, at least) leave in exactly one month to begin our vacation. That means it is time to start to think about packing!! What are some weird or more obscure things we want to make sure that we don't forget to bring with us?

I'll start:

• Duct tape - Dad swears we need this. I might buy purple or turquoise...
• Passports!!!
• Batteries
• Extra outlet strip thing
• Charger cords and power cables
