If you get that excited upping the swans, join the Newington Audubon Society and up geese. The travel costs are a lot cheaper.
i am so in for swan upping. we can leave dad at the flat :p

uh...dear...the thames does run through london, where we will be, no car required.
The Thames may run through London, but the swans don't. They're up river in Middlesex, Surrey, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire.
Middlesex county includes London. That being said, I have no idea where specific events take place along the river on a given day during that week. I would imagine there aren't a lot of swans on the part of the river that runs through downtown London.
Swan upping has been an Amy-Sarah joke kind of thing for probably 10 years now, nothing more...
london is nearly all of middlesex county, but it appears that they start a bit outside of the city, near windsor. what a lovely surprise to see that we will already be there in the appropriate time frame.
